Collage is the realization of nearly 15 years of writing, arranging, and revising of Nate Reit’s original compositions for contemporary jazz septet. Drawing influences from folk, pop and funk, this emotion-driven music inspires self-reflection and a celebration of the life adventure. Collage opens the door for the genre love jazz.
Originally founded in New York in 2012, Collage gained momentum several years later performing at venues all over Vermont, including multiple times at the Stowe Jazz Festival and during the Burlington Discover Jazz Festival.
In October 2022, Reit released the band’s first, self-titled album: Collage. Working with Grammy-nominated producer/engineer, George Petit, they completed the 10-track record in 3 days at the state-of-the-art Clubhouse recording studio in Rhinebeck, NY.
The band includes many of the finest, most in-demand musicians in Vermont: Connor Young (trumpet & flugelhorn), Rob DeBruyn (tenor & soprano saxophones), Mike Hartigan (piano), Ian Mack (guitar), Pat Markley (bass), and Dan Ryan (drums).
“While this music is in the jazz genre, I think of it more as life music: music that expresses and evokes emotion, tells a story, and hopefully provides opportunities for insight, inspiration, and reflection. I believe this music came to me as a gift. It is now my joy to share this gift with you!” -Nate
